Local chapters create a safe space for girls to meet once a week at their high school…
Or college and have the tough conversations about things that matter, support each other, and discover who they truly are (instead of who they’ve been told they’re supposed to be). Each local chapter is founded and led by an awesome girl, with the support of the IATG team. More than 215 of these remarkable girls run chapters around the world, leading with vulnerability and shifting girl culture. Here’s one girl’s story of how her embrace of being THAT GIRL has changed her life for the better and empowered her to start changing the world.
Meet Niki
Through the incredible organization that is I AM THAT GIRL, I have discovered how to love myself for who I am, and most importantly how to see the light and beauty that exists within each and every person.
Before I started my chapter of IATG I was bullied in school, and throughout that period in my life, I chose to not recognize my own worth and beauty and instead chose to believe the negative remarks I was faced with.
After I was introduced to IATG by my incredible mom, I was instantly attached to and absolutely in love with the organization and its mission. It has given me the opportunity to shine, excel, and truly positively impact girls in my community. I have become confident and proud of who I am and, more so, I have been blessed with so many opportunities to shine on a broader scale- for example I was recently honored with the opportunity to design a pin with Wildfang for their partnership with I AM THAT GIRL: the “You Got This” campaign.
Not only have I been so lucky to have gotten such wonderful opportunities as this one, but also just having the chance to lead girls in my community and see the transformative effects the organization has had is the biggest honor I could ever ask for.
Above all else, this organization has given me the tools I needed to come to understand that I am love, and it has given me the opportunity to shine the love and light I feel inside me with others in my community and outside of it. Being a part of this organization has instilled a desire in me to spread a mission- to each and every person- of love and truth.
I have learned to embrace who I am and truly live by the truth that I, as well as each and every girl, am more than what meets the eye and I have a unique beauty about myself, as does every girl. I have stopped chasing the seemingly attainable, but ever so far-fetched mission of “perfection” and have learned that I am beautiful with my flaws-a notion that is applicable to each and very girl.
This organization stands for not only everything each girl and each woman needs, but also something beautiful and wonderful for the world.
