Pathfinders Justice Initiative

May 5, 2016 | Organizations We Love, Sex Trafficking

Pathfinders Justice Initiative, Inc. (PJI) is an international social justice initiative that seeks justice and provides rehabilitation for female survivors of sex trafficking, rape and child sex abuse through judicial reform, empowerment and community transformation.

Although our work is predominantly focused in West Africa, PJI also works for stronger anti-trafficking laws both in New York and in the developing world. We advocate against systemic injustice that has intentionally rendered women and girls in the developing world vulnerable and are actively demanding the rescue and rehabilitation of the still missing Chibok Girls of Nigeria. Via its implemented initiatives, PJI envisions a world where a fundamental change of human consciousness eliminates the demoralization and subjugation of women and girls and results in their empowerment and social, economic and gender equality.

In its brief two-year history, PJI has been instrumental in assisting over 200 women and girls in West Africa (primarily Nigeria and Cameroon) trapped in modern day slavery and surviving through rape and child sex abuse. Our PATH (Personalized Action to Healing) Plans, which provide free medical, counseling and legal services as well as vocational skills training and education scholarships, afford survivors customized rehabilitative programs which place them on their personalized path to recovery.

Because we also believe in community transformation, we strive to empower silenced voices via our #TakeMeOffMute (anti- child sex abuse), #SheSaidNo (anti- rape) and #Not4Sale (anti-sex trafficking) campaigns, raise awareness and sensitize the public on the implications of these atrocities. We are prevention focused. Our resulting programs, workshops and conferences have reached close to 100,000 first and second party beneficiaries since PJI’s inception.

I want to bring awareness to the injustices women and girls face around the world.
